The Grateful Project

This photo session was epic. The wind attacked the beach with an ridiculous force.  I enjoyed a free facial courtesy of the sand. The real excitement came when I was trying to get across the drift wood. Mid step I found myself wobbling through space, backwards. Slowest fall ever, my camera was saved by my up held arm, which under normal circumstances would have saved my arse from a good bruising.

The Grateful Project

I admit that this is ridiculously colourful. I may be compensating, just a little, but you are probably increasing your serotonin levels, vitamin D and most definitely iron.
What more could you desire from a picture?

Organic Buck oranges are the lunch trend around here. Mmmm

Spring, ha! What a joke. I can still see skiffs of snow hiding in the shadows.

The Grateful Project - Day 32

Found a few pieces of evidence that spring is indeed on her way, back from whatever nice little vaction she goes on each winter. Damn her.

The Grateful Project - Day 35

I've lived to see the other side of the latest flu. In my fevered little mind I was grateful for many things: soft sheets, day light, no light, Downton Abbey, quiet... and my Ben.

Today I wandered down to the beach, haven't been there in ages.

The Grateful Project

Knitting has always been a family affair for me. I believe that I've learned how to knit three times now, the last lesson seems to have finally ingrained itself. Not sure what this wool is going to become. I love the colours so I must choose carefully.

Always a statement of fact. The Little bit of red peaking out is the book The Sisters Brothers by Patrick DeWitt, has anyone else read it? I would recommend it.

The Grateful Project

A cup of tea made by someone else is just so much better than a cup made by yourself.
I am indeed making a cup for myself at this very moment and I anticipate that it will be enjoyable, despite the fact that I am responsible for taking the bag out at the perfect moment.

P.S. My teabag fortune:  Practice kindness, compassion and caring.

(this is exactly what someone does when they make tea fore me... that's the point right?)

The Grateful Project - Day 31

Spring weather made an appearance with warm temperatures, sun, dark clouds, huge rain drops, wind and of course a rainbow. The gulls and I enjoyed getting wet and wild blown.

Did I mention that I am grateful to live so near to the ocean? How often do you get to see a rainbow disperse into the sea?

The Grateful Project - Day 30

Gorgeous vintage dress in the perfect colour. This item really wanted to come home with me. I let it follow me down the street and then we had to break up. It was sad.

How lucky am I? Well that's a bit of a complicated question right now. I do have a lot of time on my hands which still magically disappears by the time the sun goes down.  Today I used my time to wander around Victoria. Scored a latte at an appropriately hip coffee shop, Union Pacific Coffee, and then took in the view of the Olympic Peninsula, in the US of A. Rounded out the day with a personal M.A.C. tutorial and dinner at The Mint

The Grateful Project - Day 29

 Guest Blogger, My Ben

Strangely enough, February is the first month of spring on Vancouver Island. I remember that when my family first moved to the Island, I was not only surprised that there were flowers blooming but also that everyone was still wearing winter coats. "These islanders are soft," I thought. I sure was ready to show them a thing or two about what it meant to be... a thirteen year-old boy, I guess.

The Grateful Project - Day 28

I adore my Ben, his black socks and the sunlight streaming in.

The Grateful Project - Day 27

This is sacred. Cinnamon, cardamon, browned butter, sugar, yeasty bread... Oh my this surpassed even my imagination. Here is the recipe. There is a lot of rise time, so plan your relaxed day accordingly.

Received a letter in the mail stating that for just another $40 I can officially be a teacher. They do acknowledge that I am a unofficial teacher right now.  Such an amusing system, but I am pretty satisfied to have survived the process. I ran into one of my students the other day on the street. It  really is so nice when they squeal and run to give a big hug.

The Grateful Project - Day 26

Are you familiar with the moment in a mattress's life, when its cradling comfort is just not enough? Well this mattress is long past the moment. Today we entered the realm of magical memory foam. What a wonderful discovery. Also man-made fleece is wonderful too.

The Grateful Project - Day 25

A glowing sunset this time of year is so novel here on the west coast. Amazingly Ben was even able to leave work while there was light in the sky.

The Grateful Project - Day 24

Oh my. Today was a day to be grateful for the small quite things. This flower can only make me happy. I watched this tulip slowly open up over the course of the morning, which balanced my humors.
I am all unbalanced.
